Unshod in a sentence as an adjective

Surely HN must now be next?The cobbler's children have gone unshod so long!

I’m pretty damned sure of it. Why would they do so otherwise when feet of the habitually-unshod are so perfectly adapted to walking on terrain?

However if I did so as part of some theoretical organized protest involving shoes then I could, as in the second case my unshod state was clearly intended to convey some message.
