Veracrypt now has a truecrypt mode, which can read truecrypt volumes.

I believe it can also convert them to Veracrypt ones by changing the algo then unchecking truecrypt mode.

Bruce Schneier mentioned this risk about TrueCrypt recently, and then he went to recommend some closed-source solution based on its creator's good vibes.

VeraCrypt looks good, but incompatibility with TrueCrypt volumes makes me uncomfortable with switching.

Nobody can know if there's anything on a TrueCrypt volume or not.

So even if you encrypt with truecrypt, you're running the Dropbox binary for uploading, and it can do anything - in short, you're trusting them.

TrueCrypt is either still secure or it is not secure anymore.

And they'll never use TrueCrypt, it's too user unfriendly.

Fund independent code audits like the audit truecrypt project.

TrueCrypt and most other disk encryption software suffer from the same problem mentioned by the OP: lack of integrity protection and thus vulnerable to chosen ciphertext attack.

This is exactly the same premise as TrueCrypt.

Regarding the "contempt of court" threat, they need to implement hidden volumes, like TrueCrypt does, and that will be addressed.

Either way, the statement "TrueCrypt may not be secure anymore" will always be valid.

Yes TrueCrypt isn't "safe" but at this point it will take one highly motivated attacker to steal my "important" passwords.

Not sure what you mean by "accessible", so I'll go from easiest to least easy: Truecrypt has been audited, works on Windows, and appears to offer an encrypted file container that you can attach to a Windows drive letter.
