A bit off-topic - Reminds me of when I first stumbled upon Shamus Young's blog [1].

The whole shamus projects, from books (I read his autobiography) to programming posts are awesome.

I always had the impression, mostly from reading Shamus Young, that there's no such thing as drawing something other than a triangle.

You might have heard of Shamus Young (of Activeworlds fame).

General upvote for everything Shamus writes, really.

I remember reading this while it was coming out and feeling like Shamus was writing words I had in my heart but could not articulate with my head.

I'll take this opportunity to plug Shamus Young's Free Radical [1], a fan novelization-cum-quasi-reimagining of System Shock's story which I regard as being, in some respects, more faithful to the setting and characters than even the original creators were able to be.

For example, in Shamus Culhane's book "Animation: from Script to Screen", he talks about the advantages of sketching fast without critical interruption to maintain creative flow.

Shamus Young is an excellent games blogger, and does the occasional interesting post on graphics programming and procedural content generation.

I also really liked Shamus's Project Frontier, a detailed walkthrough on generating an entire procedural world.

Shamus had a very extensive 50+ part series on why Mass Effect 2&3 were terrible and didn't live up to the potential of the first game.
