Do self-proclaimed experts largely give better advice than experts, or even mere practitioners, who don't like to self-aggrandize?

Or does the fact that you self-aggrandize by using your real name on HN make you legitimate?

Although we shouldn't self-aggrandize, it's hard to do this work well, and so many don't do it well.

You cannot step outside of that perspective, so you can either feign humility or self-aggrandize, but there is no possibility for honest self-appraisal.

I never browse Twitter directly, I find the UI atrocious, and most tweets self-aggrandize or worthless.

Even inside tech we have a tendency to artificially inflate complexity: if only to self-aggrandize, increase job security, and/or source more capital.

Some people, OK, are snippy little shits who will self-aggrandize and look for every opportunity to start a fight, but most people have ups and downs.

That was not a rant, much less one about "the media." That was a gentle rib at New York City media's tendency to self-aggrandize and spill outside in a way that isn't self-aware.

He does seem like a bit of a "character." But maybe he had a webscraper that just happened to catch the premature post, and is just trying to self-aggrandize on a real scoop?
