RedHat and Samsung open source contributions aren't really comparable, despite the latter having got much better lately.

For distributions like Ubuntu LTS or RedHat/CentOS, security fixes are backported to older versions of applications like Apache or PHP.

Debian lacks strong leadership with vision, and so they simply did what they always do which is to blindly follow RedHat's lead.

I wish Windows stayed away from the Server market and likewise Redhat stayed away from the client!

I'd say RedHat/Fedora/CentOS ecosystem is probably a more likely business model.

Regarding python 2.6 this was discontinued back in 2013, as far as I know all redhat versions that used 2.6 are no longer supported unless you're paying for extended support.

They have suites of IBM packages that can be installed on top of Redhat, SuSE, Ubuntu or Debian to make IBM-styled linux.

As someone who's set up Solaris 10, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, SmartOS, Debian, Redhat, Ubuntu, KVM, Xen, etc etc etc, I just have a real hard time figuring out Docker's value proposition.
