I ordered the original Pi in May 2012 from Farnell/Element14 without a Chamber of Commerce registration (KvK nummer).

That $1B nummer includes software sales to Amazon, Rackspace etc so it's not really comparable to Amazon (which also lumps AWS together with other stuff).

The law[1] is worded like this: > (1) Mit einer Funkanlage (§ 3 Absatz 1 Nummer 1 des Funkanlagengesetzes) dürfen nur solche Nachrichten abgehört oder in vergleichbarer Weise zur Kenntnis genommen werden, die für den Betreiber der Funkanlage, für Funkamateure im Sinne des § 2 Nummer 1 des Amateurfunkgesetzes, für die Allgemeinheit oder für einen unbestimmten Personenkreis bestimmt sind.

So basically the situation is: Mit einer Funkanlage dürfen nur solche Nachrichten abgehört oder in vergleichbarer Weise zur Kenntnis genommen werden, die für den Betreiber der Funkanlage, für Funkamateure im Sinne des § 2 Nummer 1 des Amateurfunkgesetzes, für die Allgemeinheit oder für einen unbestimmten Personenkreis bestimmt sind.

Also mind the reoccurring use of "#" for "Nummer", which would have been rather unacceptable in a formal German document.

In German, we use "aufrufen", which means "to call up" if you translate it fragment-by-fragment, and in pre-computer times would (as far as I know) only be understood as "to call somebody up by their name or nummer" (like a teacher asking a student to speak or get up) when used with a direct object (as it is for functions).
