Seems an odd example: any code with a multiline comment can have the same issue.

It looks odd to me to have multiline comments not in its own 'paragraph' of the code, so draws the eye right away.

In Workflowy you can create multiline notes with Shift+Enter, but then you don't seem to be able to navigate to those lines with the keyboard.

Regular expressions are dangerously complex for validation code, it's too easy to overlook something or miss some context (like multiline mode, see also riffraff's comment).

If you need two functions that do the same thing for two different input types, you have two options - wrap it into a multiline define or use one generic function and use a callback to deal with type differences, a'la qsort().

The "correct" alternative to multiline lambda might be not a named function but an explicit code block: no clutter at the prize of vertical space.
