Reminds me of the article from Lensrentals about how much front element scratches affect photo quality.

To be fair, the author of this article is Roger Cicala of LensRentals fame [1]; optical testing is his bread and butter.

Not as scientific as lensrentals, however, it has real samples and images of charts for comparison, so you can get a sense for what the different resolution means in image resolution.

I do like reading Roger's work (here and at his LensRentals blog) just for curiosity about how lenses actually work, though.

You can always rent a Leica M-Monochrom from LensRentals.

Also, how do you differentiate yourselves from rentglass, lensrentals, lensprotogo, etc.?

It's still not cheap (I think I paid about $200 for a three-day rental from LensRentals, but that would give you practice time), but it could be worthwhile for the championship, playoffs, etc.

If you want to look to a company renting for 7 days expensive, heavy, complex technical equipment - I think lensrentals.com does a great job renting equipment costing tens of thousands of dollars and Apple's repair program could learn a lot.

For what it's worth, my frustration with borrowlenses/lensrentals isn't their pricing, which seems reasonable, but their lack of selection -- I'd love to rent out film cameras like an old Leica or a Mamiya medium format, and no-one seems interested in letting me do that.

I used lensrentals.com just to try out the 85/1.4 that "everyone" said was awesome.

Lensrentals.com founder Roger Cicala publishes teardowns of high-end modern lenses and I recall that he and his team occasionally (often?) find shims used to calibrate the optics.
