Inventing a device which is not well understood and inventing a device which contradicts things that are thought to be well understood are two different things.

Someone believing the propaganda is as much a reason as someone writing it, or someone ordering that it be written, or someone inventing the casus belli behind it.

Things like this boosts my thoughts of life out there living alone, discovering/inventing everything from scratch over and over.
