Bicycle helmets in general are not supposed to be re-used after a crash; a Hovding is no exception.

The Hovding is something I would never in a million years wear.

If hovding's triggering system could work reliably in avalanche conditions it might be worth adding to avalanche air-bag units.

It's a better target market for bleeding edge tech like hovding.

The website raises a few red-flags about Hovding for me.

Overall, I find the Hovding more comfortable than a regular helmet.

Technically, most bike and snowsports helmets aren't reusable after an impact either, but you can certainly wipe-out in a way that would trigger the Hovding but wouldn't cause a head-impact, thus wasting the Hovding in an accident a helmet could come through unscathed.

I guess this is because the Hovding prevents the usual cooling airflow to the neck, and the black color makes it more effective at absorbing heat from the sun.

I feel like this is why Hovding says it's "not intended for people under the age of 15".

That sounds a lot more similar to the airbag vests used in motorbike racing than the Hovding.
