I mean the Hacktoberfest is coming soon, so is the low-quality typo-fixes.

Again, Hacktoberfest is an example of a low quality programme which the bar is lowered on purpose to encourage trash contributions.

People can write horrible PRs manually just as well as they do with AI (see Hacktoberfest drama, etc).

The Hacktoberfest incident is a good example: The program offered a T-shirt to people who had a PR accepted.

IP banning India would have solved hacktoberfest spam 100% and maybe 99% of fake AI bug reports.

The variation of it is newbies trying to score OSS contribution on high profile project (hacktoberfest).

This reminds me of the Hacktoberfest situation where maintainers were getting flooded with low-quality PRs.

Look at what happened when they were giving free t shirts based on open source contributions (hacktoberfest) to see how well this idea would go.

So other than the Holopin rewards that continue to be the main mark of Hacktoberfest participation, there will be a special t-Shirt to be won here.

However, this year Hacktoberfest is back with limited t-shirts.

If someone had money to burn (come on cryptobros..), they could make a t-shirt that says "This T-Shirt earned by not participating in Hacktoberfest 2025"...

Even at the height of Hacktoberfest, the vast majority were painfully obvious and confined to documentation.

This is the second year in a row that our project is participating in Hacktoberfest.
