There's things which may behave like a stimulant or can replace a stimulant, but aren't really stimulants (bupropion, atomoxetine).

The FDA recently pulled a 300mg generic bupropion generic because the extended release formation produced nowhere near what the branded medication did.

Sounds like escitalopram (Lexapro, Cipralex) and bupropion (Wellbutrin, etc), often used together.

Others are magically fixed by bupropion while it spikes anxiety in others.

As a note, bupropion did make me feel a little funny.

Cocaine also works like this, as well as the antidepressant wellbutrin(bupropion).

I would second your suggestion to investigate bupropion.

Late reply but in case you come back to this, the thing that helped me out of clinical depression was 150mg of bupropion twice a day for a few years, then I was able to get out of bed reliably enough take up cycling.

I suspect the "second most popular" you refer to would be bupropion, tradename Welbutrin, which is mildly stimulating, and thus pro-sexual.

For the first couple of weeks the first time I took it, Bupropion: - made me feel pretty energetic.

Bupropion (Wellbutrin) isn't just a dopamine reuptake inhibitor: it's also a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor and a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor antagonist (which is why it's also prescribed for smoking cessation).

So my psychiatrist prescribed me Bupropion.
