Your junior-level knowledge of web development is coming out in your overly negative and anti-PHP ranting today.

This pervasive anti-PHP mentality is rampant and actively discourages me (and other PHP devs) from contributing.

The reason I cited Rails is that its usually proposed as the better alternative in these anti-PHP threads.

This is surprising because the template language in particular feels so anti-PHP, it’s highly opinionated about not mixing code in with the template.

Tests are always nice, too: they're like the anti-PHP, and give a great deal of bang for buck in terms of coloring people's impressions of you.

I think he doesn't like all the upvotes for the snarky anti-PHP comment: You don't really learn PHP so much as catch it.

Their anti-PHP developers were quite happy with the arrangement.

Incidentally, I wrote an anti-PHP rant last year called "Why PHP Won" that made its rounds here.

The original post just can't be sensibly called "anti-PHP snobbery".

I am confused by why you think this is "anti-PHP snobbery".

What makes it snobbery is how the author points out flaws and is so passionately anti-PHP with the subtext being "what I use is superior".

Anti-php is one of the central tenets of HN ideology.
