Meanness in a sentence as a noun

I want to upvote you for truth, but HN currently has a meanness problem of which this comment is a specimen.

>> "On the other hand, I do think the meanness of programming communities is a the biggest problem we have.

>the meanness of programming communities is a the biggest problem we haveOr maybe it's our biggest asset.

The end game won't be all-knowing companies, it'll be SEO for social media profiles that make people look good for a fee.[edit: removed meanness]

If Mr. Altman's hypothesis that "Anonymity breads meanness"[5] were true, one would expect this board to be full of people just trolling depressed neets.

This is not how you tell people you don't like 'meanness'.Over the years here and before I started commenting people called me a **********, cock, *******, douchebag, and every mean *** thing you can imagine.

"I suppose you want to be seen as rational actors and would never admit it, but when I read your post it seems like you reacted to PG's anger, frustration, meanness and other emotions, but not to his honesty.

So here's my idea of how to approach comments you guys feel are putting people down unfairly: neutralize the meanness by following up that very mean comment by saying something like "I don't think you're being fair, I think author of the post has made something really cool because $y".

Today's discussion[3] was extremely embarrassing, so much so that if I'd seen that discussion first I might never have joined the site, but the meanness was not among the most up-voted comments, and even though there were a some annoying individuals who felt the need to prove how unremarkable someone was, most were rather positive.

I'm not sure if you're trying to say that calling an argument childish is itself childish, or something else, but if you're asking what "I" was thinking, it's "it's time for people to stop leaving dumb comments about the color schemes and decorations of blog posts on threads ostensibly dedicated to discussing the contents of blog posts".Those comments are literally distilled meanness.
