Alimentation in a sentence as a noun

Obesity is pretty common in poor people, because of bad but cheaper alimentation.

The literal translation for power cable is "alimentation cable" in my native language.

The author is not a native English speaker, and Google says alimentation is "the provision of nourishment or other necessities.

My other reference for alimentation was the blue zone that also pointed mostly in the same direction, no process food, plenty of vegetable or vegan but also in some case a bit of meat and cheese.

I just don't get it, carbs have always been a major part of meals since medieval times and it's clearly a part of a normal alimentation, if you put everything in moderation, I don't see really the problem, I just don't get it.
