A coworker just got a Thinkpad W541 and it improves on the trackpad by readding the missing thumb buttons under the spacebar.

Do you suggest that IBM was responsible for the vast majority of Thinkpad sales?

Annoyingly my ThinkPad has a Gobi 3G card in it but I've got used to 4G speeds now.

Yea, my ThinkPad is a W540, but since the "good" display isn't standard, mine didn't come with it.

Hit the Ogg stream and it loaded in VLC (Devuan linux, basically Debian 8, on my old Thinkpad).

I'm using Edge on an ancient Thinkpad, and there are many days where I can use it with no issues at all.
