Once ES6 is well handled by the browsers a lot of these intermediate shims/libraries will go away anyways.

Back in Vista there were around 5000 applications that had shims applied by Windows to make them run correctly.

Sadly these shims require a per-client queue to ensure message delivery, as events will otherwise be lost during reconnections.

Yes but it's quite easy to handle to differences using shims / transpilers and feature detection.

Any idea if wasm / ES6 modules / module loader shims work with object URLs and/or data URIs cross-browser by design?

Mozilla could also implement shims, to make sites continue to work.

Edit: actually this looks to be a lot more sophisticated than the other shims i havr looked at and does indeed behave more like eventsource.

I know there are shims but I cannot imagine they don't come with caveats.

I've been using babel + browserify and leaning on whatever shims it provides...

There are a lot of simple flash shims out there -- I'm using one for my app, with everything else written in javascript.

That would remove the need to have JavaScript shims.

Some, like shims.js, are only 24 lines long.

Shims would fix accidental breakage, and reduce "mysteriously broken" sites.
