It is similar to NanoKVM-Pro, and indeed one may also install PiKVM on that commercial hardware.

The NanoKVM-Pro uses a AX631 2xA53 1.5G, which can apparently also support the PiKVM software.

An equivalent, but simpler, solution would be to use a network-based KVM, like PiKVM.

I don't see the article complaining that a PiKVM has so many unused peripherals when used as a KVM.

PiKVM seems to be the large competitor here and is completely open source.

I also have a PiKVM with the switch for network level access which works really well too.

I also got PiKVM running on a Pi Zero 2 W and it worked fine but was a bit squirrely.

Yeah, my guess was something like pikvm as well.

The PiKVM runs wireguard so it's reasonably secure.

I spent a while mixing this up with PiKVM and was having trouble understanding how any of it would fit in with that project.

I've been looking into PiKVM as advised by another comment and they're pretty pricey at ~£200 but that's genuinely orders of magnitude more preferable.

I found PiKVM useful as I already had the hardware laying around, so setting one up didn't cost me anything, and its a pretty good experience.

Also JetKVM is now just as "open-source" as PiKVM is, so there's not even a moral high ground to spending extra.
