I mean Nextcloud is fine, but that's not the big alternative push we need here.

It’s way more work but this subject got me thinking about the idea of self-hosting the all in one nextcloud suite.

If it overloads nextcloud by hitting too many files too fast, that's a legitimate issue but it's not what OP was worried about.

I think you might be confusing Backblaze reading files and how Dropbox/OneDrive/Nextcloud/etc.
