The weak service that companies like DoorDash pull (cold food after an hour wait) won't fly in NYC.

In the south bay at least, doordash far exceeds the competition for the variety of restaurants they offer.

And yet, much of this risk is now being pushed down to the entities least capable of absorbing it - what is the opportunity cost of being "available" as a DoorDash driver for a given shift with non-guaranteed compensation?

If Doordash makes the switch in the coming weeks, I'll assume that YC companies are (1) getting legal advice from similar sources and (2) are more inclined to "do the right thing" (at least the right thing according to pro-labor folks...).

Doordash, Uber etc have the infrastructure to do this idea, do it better and achieve synergy.

Doordash may have some restaurant relationships that Uber doesn't, but that is ground that can be quickly made up with money.
