Aspheric in a sentence as an adjective

Since I'm a nerd, I read up on lens materials and now I use Trivex single vision aspherics for readers and drivers. I'm a lot more knowledgable now about my available choices.

I'm anxiously awaiting the 3 going on sale in Europe so I can buy an aspheric replacement that allows me to see more than the grille of the car on my left.

Modern computer-aided-design lenses with exotic glass and aspheric surfaces significantly outperform older lenses. I am a big fan of Samyang's lineup, their lenses are top-notch for reasonable prices.

Also, as a practical matter, designers often use several spherical lenses instead of a few aspherics because the latter are harder to manufacture/more expensive.

I have aspheric lenses which are supposed to help, but I still see the problem and I’ve been complaining to my optometrist who basically says he can’t make anything better than what I’ve got. It’s especially bad in computer interfaces which often have thin high contrast lines which just splay out into red/blue as you get to the edges of the monitor.

Quote Examples using Aspheric

The introduction to the new paper gives a reasonably clear explanation of how it relates to previous work: > The design of optical systems with aspheric surface has the goal to strongly reduce spherical aberration. Spherical aberration on lenses has been extensively studied by Ref. [1]. Luneberg [2] established a method for computing the shape of the second surface from an initial first surface that introduces spherical aberration, which he described just for special cases. Many authors proposed a lens design with two aspheric surfaces to correct spherical aberration [3,4]. > The problem of the design of a singlet free of spherical aberration with two aspheric surfaces is also known as the Wasserman and Wolf problem [5].
