I'd just miss the stupid quadruped all the time.

Is this the first BD quadruped to run without a engine?

How is this a quadruped and not a wheeled robot with just a funny tire design?

BD's first, possibly, but I know there are some folks at MIT who are/were working on an electric quadruped as well.

The example they use is hilarious and makes me think about one of my ideas for a dog **** cleaning backyard quadruped.

In fact, you could probably do a ton of good development with a good size quadruped constructed out of large RC type servos and linkages.

That little quadruped is using it to get two degrees of freedom without the first actuator having to carry the mass of the second one.

Every actuator comes with a lot of overhead in terms of cost, mass, complexity, and two more limbs don't offer much of an advantage over a quadruped.

And for the situations where legs are required, such as climbing up stairs of difficult terrain, I'd have thought that a quadruped with a mounted gun would be a better solution.

But if there were a thousand flies, all buzzing, to appearance, about the great creature; and, to a fly, declaring, each one for himself, that he was bigger than the quadruped; and all giving different and frequently contradictory reasons; and each one despising and opposing the reasons of the others—I should feel quite at my ease.
