Pressing in a sentence as a noun

We can't help having a nagging sense that it's all a bit of a distraction from the really pressing issues.

I tried pressing the giant button marked "Next" on the right side of the screen. I got a big white screen. I flailed around with my fingers.

The most pressing examples are category theory and homotopy theory, both of which are based on a study of operations, not objects, in a technical way that is poorly served by the current consensus foundation for mathematics.
