Prescript in a sentence as a noun

Oh you mean like the one that the government spends millions and ruins lives over every year that is being turned into yet another expensive prescription drug?Yeah.

Actually, not everyone agrees that that's how it works...whether society should value descriptive over prescriptive policies on its language is a huge debate among linguists.

My mother had the same reaction and I assumed she was just being obtuse but now that a commenter on Hacker News has said it I'm going to assume there's genuine ambiguity there and add a little prescript to the post to clarify!

For example, at the start of my essay on non-standard analysis, I define some commands:- "\near" as a synonym for "\simeq"- \newcommand{\hyp}[1][\mathbb{R}]{\prescript{*}{}{#1}}- \newcommand{\powerset}{\mathcal{P}}This way you can change the notation easily and all-at-once if you need to, as well as making the semantics clear to the source-reader.
