I did mull this over when I wrote the post, and it is something I do consider, but I cant say "Oh dont sue me because I my tax dollars will go to repair the screwed up damage the society I support decided to support." Hopefully this guy getting ten million dollars will make the citizens revolt AT the police agency, and drive the stake deep.

I kept this to myself though, and had a look at the comments here, and I've had time to mull on why I think this is potentially dangerous behaviour. The tone and humour in that post requires a large amount of confidence in the changes being made, in order to write about the humorously, but also in the author themselves to actually present their work in such a tone.

I don't have customers that come to me saying, "I want an external sorting algorithm that is tuned to SSDs and APU's;" rather, I take an existing question or open problem, mull it over, arrive at another question, find a few answers along the way, and eventually I find a way to map the math to the metal. It's bottom up, usually, and generally, rather than composing something deeply personal, I eliminate touches I identify as personal until there's nothing of me left in the algorithm.
