Fractiousness in a sentence as a noun

The fractiousness of the discussion is unfortunate, but nobody has to read it.

Especially with a first past the post electoral system in which fractiousness dilutes the value of your vote.

Continued denial and fractiousness will make the nightmare scenario more likely.

It's a divisive topic, so fractiousness is not easy to avoid, but everyone should make sure they're up to date on the site guidelines before posting. They include: "Comments should get more thoughtful and substantive, not less, as a topic gets more divisive."

I think about this a lot because Hacker News, for all its problems and fractiousness, is in sort of a blessed position where we're not subject to those same pressures and can optimize for other things. But it's also two orders of magnitude smaller than Reddit, which means we're not facing the same problems at all.

The fractiousness of political threads trains us all to drop civility and reflection, even on semi-political and apolitical topics. I think the Broken Windows Theory applies here, big-time.

>the issues that Americans considered at the national level would be very strongly dominated by the concerns of the most populous urban centers, which would lead to even more fractiousness between urban areas and "flyover" areas. This is a common sentiment.

But I would counter that while we are at the height of political fractiousness, it may not be worthwhile to spend a lot of time trying to convince people. It may be more effective to succeed with good ideas, like trade and liberal immigration, and pluralism then invite your former opponents to enjoy the benefits later.

> I support the Electoral College because I think that without it, the issues that Americans considered at the national level would be very strongly dominated by the concerns of the most populous urban centers, which would lead to even more fractiousness between urban areas and "flyover" areas. and with it the majority of voters get overridden because of those flyover states.
