Atonement in a sentence as a noun

What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us?

Yes atonement is difficult in this case. A sad story indeed.

I took the lessons I learned from that first attempt and created fs-crypt as a sort of atonement. I think I got a lot more right on my second attempt at file-base encryption in Linux.

Under the "Add Trusted Contact" section, you can write a personal "atonement" email to whoever will receive your data. At least that's how the message to my wife is turning out :|

What if the motivation isn't atonement but self-interest?

It's not like we kept the restraining order active for 16 years, and his message wasn't really harassment, more like attempted atonement. At any rate, I do wish companies had to be held to their own site rules, legally.

Consider the upvote my atonement for being overly and not entirely correctly nit-picky.

We can concentrate our efforts on forcing atonement and punishment for the past acts of others who look like us, or we can shrug all that **** off and say "today and tomorrow are new days; let's make them the best days we can." Some people will choose the former and some the latter strategy.

On the contrary, I stay the **** away from people like him, and he has a lot more to answer for than is satisfied by his upper-crust PR-driven atonement assigned to him by the church of TV for the purpose of lining his wallet. Same goes for Obama and AG Eric Holder.

No religion has left their violence in the past, they have a book, hadtih/scrolls and vickers/mullahs which tells them they have a divine right to certain things like violent retribution for blasphemy or "blood atonement" and land titles, so violence will continue forever. Even buddhists are rampaging in Myanmar with machetes butchering up a sectarian storm.

The three verses cited on blood atonement are from the NT. I realize the idea is that the blood of Jesus was supposed to end blood atonement and usher in a new era. However, I never thought this idea was reasonable, never identified with a God who would set such a system up, and never felt that this idea at the core of a religion would ultimately lead to positive outcomes or really much more than continued barbarism and cruelty, but I'm not going to argue with your faith.

Traditional doctrines such as Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Incarnation, the death burial and bodily resurrection of Jesus, the substitutionary atonement, Biblical inerrancy, infallibility, the five solas of the Reformation, the Trinity, the fall, the rapture etc. For us to argue the existence of god, we need to define 2 things: What does it mean to exist, and what does it mean to be god?
